The Shapes Of Stories

This is highly entertaining, and demonstrates the similarity of many stories (which we already knew). I’m not quite sure what it teaches us, but it’s an amusing and interesting five minutes.

It reminds me of a comment by Philip Pullman, at the end of an article on the x different shapes of stories (might have been twelve, might have been seven, might have been any number – I forget). He said that in another sense all stories fit the model of the grail legend. Something is lost, and then it is found. The end.
